Samsung Challenges Apple in Tablet Market, Firmly Holds Second Place

Samsung is one of the leading brands in the smartphone market; now it has made its strong presence in the tablet market as it became the second-leading tablet seller in Q3 2024.
Samsung recently launched its latest table series, the Galaxy Tab S10 series, which includes two variants, the Galaxy Tab S10+ and the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra. Meanwhile, the previous report suggests that the company is also looking forward to debuting the Galaxy Tab S10 FE variant.
The company is taking active steps to expand its Galaxy Tab family by introducing new models, and sales figures are also motivating it.
The International Data Corporation (IDC) revealed the sales figures according to which Samsung managed to move 7.1 million tablet shipments in Q3 2024. It is an 18.3% increase in sales figures as compared to the same time last year.
However, the IDC claims that the newly launched Galaxy Tab S10+ and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra are not the reason behind the boost in sales figures. The reason behind this impressive boost is that the company’s budget-able Galaxy Tab A9 models play an essential role in most regions.
Samsung came close to leading Apple in tablet shipment in Q3, with only a 5.5 million unit difference. While Apple still stuck to its leading position with the iPad, its growth was moderate at 1.4% year over year this last quarter. Apart from these two brands, Amazon is in the third position with 4.6 million Kindles, a 111.3% boost compared to this time last year.
Huawei is in the fourth position in tablet shipments, narrowly surpassing Lenovo with 3.2 million shipments, then Lenovo’s 3 million.
