Samsung offers the S-Pen facility along with the ultra variant of its Galaxy S-series devices, foldables, and tablets, and usually relies on Wacom’s technology for impressive stylus performance. Now the brand is looking forward to introducing a new stylus technology to improve the S Pen experience.
According to the report, Samsung is collaborating with South Korean fabless chip brand HiDeep to develop a new stylus technology that will not require a separate digitizer and battery. The aim behind ditching Wacom’s EMR technology after being revered in the industry for its high performance is that it requires a digitizer, which leads to the thickness of the device.
The report from TheElec states that Samsung is planning to go with HiDeep to develop a solution that works with all companies. This new stylus technology will be dedicated to breaking down the present barriers of incompatibility between different smartphone companies. Samsung Display supplies foldable OLED panels to several Chinese smartphone manufacturers. It is interested in offering OLED panels and the new stylus technology as it doesn’t require a digitizer.
If this report comes true, then Samsung Display will soon offer its new stylus technology to Chinese smartphone makers, which will make things easy for them to make thinner foldable phones with styluses, which is a big deal since the customers are demanding slim phones as much as possible.
