It’s impressive seeing Samsung’s consistency when it comes to delivering the latest security updates to its entire Galaxy ecosystem. The January 2025 security update began with the Galaxy S24 series, which was then followed by the other models in different parts of the world. Meanwhile, the update for the Galaxy Note 20 lineup has just been spotted in the US.
Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra were previously placed within the monthly security update list, while the company then shifted the devices into the quarterly list. Thus, according to the rollout pattern, the Unlocked units of the Galaxy Note 20 series are spotted getting the January 2025 security update in the US.
The January patch for the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra is recognized with the N981U1UESBHXL1 and N986U1UESBHXL1 version numbers, while also carrying an update size of 301.43MB.

The patch, however, doesn’t introduce any major features and changes; it significantly focuses on improving the system’s overall security by integrating various patches from both Google and Samsung collectively for all the security vulnerabilities addressed in the previous version in order to offer a more safe and secure user experience while also protecting the device against potential threats and risks.
Alternatively, the update further brings a lot of performance optimizations, adds stability to the overall system behavior, applies all the latest security patches, and delivers much improved features, which eventually helps users to have a more efficient, stable, and smooth functionality along with a much optimized user experience.
