Samsung Electronics Unveils plans for AI-driven 6G technology

Samsung is expanding its ways to maintain its legacy in the technology market as it is looking forward to implementing AI in 6G to upgrade network quality.

Initially, Samsung published its first white paper on 6G four years back in 2020, and now again it has come up with more details regarding the technology. The new white paper hints that the Korean tech giant is aiming to integrate the latest AI technology throughout the telecommunication system and upgrade network quality for a future-oriented and user-friendly experience.

Samsung revealed that it is expected to finalize the 6G technology standards in 2030, following the candidate technology development, evaluation, and consensus-building processes. The company has explained how 6G will bring a new layer of advancement to enhance and accelerate connectivity.

The company mentioned five notable services that arrive with a 6G wireless network, which are as follows:

  • Immersive Extended Reality (XR) delivers an immersive user experience by integrating and interacting with the virtual and real worlds.
  • Digital Twin creates virtual replicas of physical entities, such as objects, devices, and more.
  • Massive communication permits constant connectivity between various sensors, machines, and terminals.
  • Ubiquitous Connectivity: expanding service areas via extending terrestrial network coverage and interoperating between terrestrial and non-terrestrial network components.
  • Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) seems similar to wired connectivity but without the wire.

It will be enhanced by AI technologies, which are anticipated to make user experience future-proof and reduce costs, improve energy efficiency, and expand service coverage.
