One UI 7 Delay Could Mean No One UI 7.1—Bigger Update Incoming

Samsung’s One UI 7 skin’s delay journey started when the company decided to continue with yet another beta (fourth) build for the Galaxy S24 series owners. Although the company indeed aims to offer the best possible experience to the Galaxy audience, this frustrating delay might affect its One UI x.1 update.
After releasing the third One UI 7 beta on 6th January, there was no turning back. However, after a gap of almost a month, Samsung has released another beta build, this is likely to cause significant inconveniences in the future One UI 7.1 version, which is expected to be released alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7.
Samsung One UI 7.1 May Not Exist
Samsung might consider skipping One UI 7.1 and jumping directly to a new One UI 7.0.1 update for its future foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. (via-sammobile)
Substantially, Samsung follows a pattern with its software skin’s update where the One UI x.0 is for its Galaxy smartphones, while the One UI x.1 is reserved for its Galaxy foldables and tablets. However, seeing the situation right now, Samsung is likely to break its long-running tradition and skip the One UI x.1 update for the upcoming 7th Gen foldables.
Another factor could be the timeline. Samsung must expedite the rollout of One UI 7 to align with Google’s Android 16 timeline, which is currently in its beta testing phase and is expected to reach the platform stability stage by Q2, 2025. Still, Samsung Galaxy devices are waiting to get even stable Android 15 (One UI 7).
