Why Is Samsung’s One UI 7.0 Delayed? Google Might Be the Reason

Spread the love

Samsung smartphone owners, especially those with the Galaxy S24, S24+, or S24 Ultra, are getting impatient. Rumors about a major delay for the One UI 7.0 update have spread, even though Samsung hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet. The company had promised the update for its older phones in the first quarter of 2025 (by March), but signs now suggest it might arrive much later. Here’s what we know:

What’s Happening with One UI 7?

Right now, the One UI 7 update is only available on the new Galaxy S25 series and a budget phone (Galaxy F06 5G) in India. Older models like the Galaxy S24 series, which started testing the update in December 2024, are still waiting. Samsung released three test versions (betas) quickly, hinting the final update was close. But now a fourth beta is rumored, pushing the stable release to April or May 2025.

Why the One UI 7.0 Delayed?

  1. Lots of New Features: One UI 7.0 brings big upgrades, like smoother animations, better AI tools (powered by Google’s Gemini), and performance improvements. Testing all these changes takes time.
  2. Google’s AI Might Be Struggling: Samsung’s new AI features rely on Google’s servers. With over 37 million Galaxy S24 devices sold (and 40 million S25s expected), some think Google’s systems aren’t ready to handle so many users.
  3. Samsung’s Surprising Plan: There’s talk Samsung might skip smaller updates (like One UI 7.1) and jump straight to One UI 7.1.1 or even One UI 8.0 with Android 16 later this year.

Why Are Samsung Galaxy Fans Worried?

  • If the delay drags on, Samsung phones might still be stuck on Android 14 when Google releases Android 16 in mid-2025.
  • The Galaxy S24 series, Samsung’s 2024 flagship, could get the update 4–5 months after the S25, which feels unfair to many.

What’s Samsung Saying About One UI 7 Update?

Officially, Samsung still claims the update is “coming in Q1 2025.” But insiders like leaker Tarun Vats suggest the wait will be longer. Until Samsung clarifies, users will have to stay patient.

Do These Excuses Make Sense?

While the AI server theory is possible, it’s odd that the update works perfectly on the S25 and Galaxy F06. The real reason might be a mix of technical challenges and Samsung prioritizing its newest phones.
