Samsung Galaxy Watches Could Gain These Features with Wear OS 5.1

Last year, Samsung introduced the One UI 6 watch update for its eligible Galaxy watches, with this update the company has offered a bunch of new features that enhanced the overall user experience of smartwatch users connected to its ecosystem.

It is worth noticing that the One UI 6 watch for the Galaxy watches is based on WearOS 5 so it has received some Android-based new features as well now as Google has introduced new WearOS 5.1 update to its Pixel Watches, therefore it is possible that we could see these new feature based One UI 6 watch running watches.

Samsung Galaxy Watches in the coming update could receive these features

In the latest release of WearOS 5.1, Google has introduced two new features that could be available for Galaxy watches in the future update:

Credential manager support: Credential manager is a beneficial API that offers convenient processing for applying new passwords or passkeys to manage signing up or login accounts. This feature is available for Android smartphones and tablets now expanding to smartwatches as well.

Play music with the watch speaker: with this feature Galaxy watch users will get the ability to play music tracks directly via the smartwatch speaker.

Samsung has a bunch of Galaxy watches that are eligible to get new updates and handle fresh features. Here’s the list of all eligible watches

  • Galaxy Watch 5 series

  • Galaxy Watch 7 series

Availability

Samsung hasn’t hinted anything about the next update availability for its smartwatch yet but it usually follows the same strategy as Google so it is expected that the company could introduce the update for all the eligible watches in the next two months.
