Samsung Launches Refurbished Galaxy Program as Fake Devices Flood Market

Samsung introduced the Certified Re-newed Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra in its home country, South Korea, with a dedicated price.
The Korean tech giant teased its new program called “Galaxy Certified Used Phones,” limited to the Korean market. The company also assured that the devices had been used for a very short time before being put back on sale, which means that the program is an efficient chance for consumers to grab a more affordable alternative to purchasing new, sealed devices.
Each model (Base, Plus, and Ultra) of the series has a dedicated price tag based on storage variants, which are as follows:
Samsung Galaxy S24
- 256GB – 889,900 KRW ($606.43)
- 512GB – 949,300 KRW ($647.12)
Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus
- 256GB – 1,041,700 KRW ($709.86)
- 512GB – 1,101,100 KRW ($750.41)
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
- 256GB – 1,307,900 KRW ($891.35)
- 512GB – 1,367,300 KRW ($931.86)
- 1TB – 1,486,100 KRW ($1012.87)
What is the Certified Renewed program?
Samsung announced the Certified Re-newed program through which it will offer flagship smartphones, currently the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, that were returned within 7 days of online purchase due to a change of mind, opening the box, and have passed strict internal quality checks to be rated as top-grade products.
Noticeably, the program will have the same after-sales service warranty as new devices and is also compatible with enrolling in the damage protection plan under Samsung Care+.
Samsung Alerts Consumers About Rising Counterfeit Smartphone
Samsung has launched a certified refurbished program to tackle the increasing issue of counterfeit smartphones being sold online, especially on platforms including Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree. They recently issued a warning in Australia regarding fake Galaxy devices being sold by private sellers at discounted prices.
However, it’s quite difficult for customers to spot fake smartphones since they are made with cheap parts and bad software that can’t be recognized easily. Regarding this, Samsung says to buy the devices from the official website or trusted stores. If buying used, be careful or use their new refurbished program currently available for the Galaxy S24 series.
