Wear OS-powered Galaxy Watches to receive Earthquake alert feature soon

Google’s initiative to bring earthquake alerts to the Wear OS powered smartwatches will prove to be a stunning advantage for Samsung Galaxy watch audiences as well.

The official update release notes for the June 2025 Google Play Services, carrying the version number, v25.21, published on Google’s page lists that Google is working on the expansion of earthquake alerts to the Wear OS-based wearables, including Samsung Galaxy watches running the same software version.

Specifically, the note details that the users will get alerts on their Wear OS watches at the moment when any earthquake shaking is expected. Meanwhile, the earthquake alert feature is rolling out with the latest version of Google Play Services.

In other words, people will get early warnings on their smartwatches running Wear OS, when any shaking is expected from an earthquake that consists of a magnitude of 4.5 or higher.

At the same time, the earthquake alert system works on two key points, “Be Aware Alert” and “Take Action Alert”, where the former provides people early warnings so that they could be aware of when any weak or light shaking is detected, while the later lets you take certain actions as suggested when any moderate or extreme shaking is expected, ensuring user’s safety at the same time.

Well, there is official confirmation from Google’s side regarding the exact rollout timeline for the earthquake alert feature; however, it’s possible that Google may release it as one of the key functions of Wear OS 6 at the end of this year.

Also, this could prove to be very helpful for the watch owners as they will be informed earlier when any skating is expected, while the feature will soon be available for the Samsung Galaxy Watches running Wear OS.
