Android Auto Welcomes Gemini as Assistant Prepares to get Replaced

Android Auto has been considered Google’s most reliable, useful, and efficient driving companion for years. Meanwhile, the platform started welcoming Gemini, which will now be part of Android Auto, replacing Assistant forever.
Basically, Google already showcased the sign of ditching Google AI Assistant for Android Auto in order to integrate Gemini as its new digital AI voice, while the change will be live in cars supporting Android Auto in the coming months; now (via Android Authority), it looks like Android Auto’s latest version apparently ditches the support of Google Assistant to bring Gemini in!
The report mentions that a few interesting changes have been discovered when they managed to dive into the latest version of Android Auto, version 14.8 (which is yet to be released), showing the sign that Google is already working on replacing Google Assistant with Gemini, which is supposed to go live in future updates of Android Auto.

First up, the Google Assistant label in Android Auto settings is replaced with “Manage your Digital Assistant” wordings, while Google has changed the text to “Set your weather, home/work locations, and more for your Google Assistant to use your voice to get more done in the car.”
However, when tapped, the options only take you to the main Google Assistant UI, perhaps because Gemini is currently not accessible on Android Auto.
Well, Android Auto users will soon be able to experience Gemini as their new digital voice that will significantly enhance their in-car experience with much more convenience once Google starts making Gemini available for all the users worldwide.
