One UI 8 introduces a new and powerful Galaxy AI feature, but there’s a small drawback

Samsung has continuously upgraded its Galaxy AI suite, integrating some amazing features that took the user’s experience to the next level while also making several of them totally free. Meanwhile, a new report suggests that an all-new feature is perhaps making its way to the Galaxy AI suite with the latest Android 16-based One UI 8.
Beginning with One UI 8, it looks like Samsung is adding a new AI-powered Voice Captioning, a feature that will convert speech into captions in real-time while also providing translations and summaries in multiple languages, spotted by GalaxyTechie on X, while a user via Reddit claims that it can be manually installed on the Galaxy devices.
Specifically, right after installing the APK file on the Galaxy devices running either One UI 8 or even One UI 7, users will be required to add a voice captioning shortcut to the quick panel, where users can quickly open voice captioning from the quick panel in order to use it for easier access to watching videos or attending important meetings.
Once added, users receive the ability to even save the captioned text along with the audio. At the same time, users can decide whether they wish to use their phone’s audio or mic or both when using the voice captioning feature.
However, the newly added Galaxy AI-based voice captioning feature is currently only exclusive to China, at least for now. Also, it is yet to be seen whether Samsung decides to expand the functionality to more countries or not. Nevertheless, the APK could possibly not work on all Galaxy devices; Samsung could launch the voice captioning feature with either stable One UI 8 or One UI 8.5, as both software will run Android 16 out of the box.
