Samsung Set to Benefit as US Ban on BOE OLED Panels Impacts Pixel 10, iPhone 17 Production

Samsung could have a golden chance to raise its OLED panel business in the USA, as the International Trade Commission has decided to ban BOE’s OLED screens from the US.
Recently, the International Trade Commission (ITC) has enacted a preliminary ruling that could ban BOE’s OLED screens from being imported into and sold in the USA market for almost 15 years, and the reason behind this ban is Samsung Display’s filed lawsuit, alleging that BOE illegally used Samsung’s trade secrets in its OLED technology.
In case this happened, then it would be quite significant for Samsung to earn more from smartphone brands, including Apple. It’s reported that in November 2025, the US ITC could ban BOE and its OLED panels from the USA for at least 15 years. It’s expected that if this ban prevents BOE’s OLED panels from being used in iPhones and other Apple products, then it could potentially give Samsung Display a significant advantage in the coming years.
Meanwhile, a reliable display analyst, Ross Young, shared a post on X, claiming that the ban could have “little impact” on brands like Apple and Google, as they’d still be able to sell their phones having BOE panels, such as the iPhone 17 range and Pixel 10 series, in the US, but repairing them will be a tough task, as the manufacturers and repair agents might not have the chance to stockpile replacement screens.
If Young’s claims come true, then it won’t affect the sales of present smartphones with BOE screens. But in the long term, Samsung Display could benefit from this ban, as one of its tough competitors (BOE) will no longer be in the game to stand strong against it, at least in the major market USA.
