Galaxy S26 Ultra Chipset Branding Exceeds All Expectations

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is now highly anticipated to be powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation chipset, which is reported to be called Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

All the previously leaked reports have suggested that Qualcomm is working on its new chipset for mobile devices, with the model number SM8850, which will launch as the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. Among all, one report also revealed that Qualcomm is looking forward to launching its next-generation flagship chipsets, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, in the coming months. 

Meanwhile, a new report seems against all the previous leaks, as it reveals that Qualcomm may call its coming chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. A reliable tipster, Digital Chat Station, on Weibo, claims that the company will launch the SM8850 as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which was supposed to be called Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2.

Coming to the Korean tech firm, Samsung, which is expected to equip its future Galaxy S26 Ultra with Qualcomm’s upcoming high-end chipset, which is now reported to be called Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.

However, the official statement regarding this report has yet to be released; it remains to be seen what the exact name of Qualcomm’s coming chipset will be. Recently, Samsung’s Exynos 2600 has appeared on Geekbench, revealing impressive scores that have almost closed the performance gap with the previously rumored Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip.
