Samsung is progressing with the One UI 8 beta rollout for eligible Galaxy devices, including the S24 series; meanwhile, the company is also focusing on delivering the latest September 2025 security update for other devices, as now, the Galaxy S23 series has started receiving the update.
The company has started rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy S23 series that significantly integrates the latest September 2025 security update, following the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 models. The update is currently available in the US for the Verizon carrier-locked units and is expected to expand to more units across the country soon.
Eventually, this rollout makes the S23 series the first devices of the Galaxy S lineup to get the latest security update. At the same time, the update for the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra is identified with the version numbers S911USQS6DYI3, S916USQS6DYI3, and S918USQS6DYI3, respectively.
More specifically, the security updates are efficiently meant to increase and strengthen overall security. However, the update doesn’t bring any major features or changes; rather, it looks to be a more significant update that packs a bunch of bug fixes for all the security-related issues and vulnerabilities to provide a more secure user experience, while also protecting the device against potential threats and malicious attacks.
Other than that, the update further adds stability to the entire system behavior and brings performance optimizations that eventually lead to a smoother, more stable, and more effective user experience.
Well, the September patch for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 added new features, including the integration of Google Finance within the Now Bar, allowing users to check stocks without unlocking their phone. Unfortunately, the latest patch for the S23 series has not brought the feature.
