Apple Chooses Samsung Display for Touchscreen MacBook Pro OLED Supply

Samsung seems to play a major role in Apple’s debut touchscreen MacBook Pro by supplying OLED that supports touch, as a new report suggests.

Samsung and Apple are rival brands of each other, but now both are looking forward to coming up to the same table for a collab, one as a producer and the other as a consumer, respectively. Previously, it was reported that Samsung Displaywould supply OLED panels for Apple’s MacBook Pro, but it wasn’t confirmed whether the panels support touch.

Now, a new report from a reliable blog, TheElec, revealed Apple is now looking forward to introducing a major MacBook refresh, and the Korean tech giant will play an essential role. According to the report, the new MacBook Pro will use OLED panels that support touch, marking a first for Apple laptops. The touchscreen uses on-cell technology that helps to put the touch sensors directly in the display and prevents adding them as a dedicated layer, which will be convenient for Apple to design the MacBook thin and light while making the touch controls more responsive.

One of the reasons Apple chose Samsung to supply the OLED is that it has the experience and technology needed to produce high-quality OLED panels at scale. By supplying Apple with both the display and the touch layer, the Korean tech firm becomes a key partner in this new development.

It seems that this collaboration could set a new standard for flagship laptops, delivering bright OLED colors and smooth touch controls. Reportedly, Apple could start mass production of its first touchscreen MacBook Pro in 2026. However, neither of these brands has released any official notice regarding this collaboration yet, so it remains to be seen whether the partnership will come into existence.
