Google adopting Samsung’s navigation buttons customization feature for Pixel devices

Samsung’s One UI offers multiple customization options to its Galaxy smartphones to enhance users’ experience, including reordering navigation buttons. Now, Google is looking forward to adopting this feature for its Pixel devices.

Samsung offers the ability to change the order of buttons in the navigation bar via its customized version (One UI) of Android for Galaxy smartphone users. This feature offers two layout options, which are as follows:

  • The first option offers the back button on the right and the recent button on the left.
  • The second option reverses that order, allowing users to choose the one that suits their needs.

Meanwhile, one of our reliable colleagues, Android Authority, reveals that Android 16 QPR2 for Pixel devices offers the ability to customize the order of navigation buttons, similar to what Samsung offers.

However, the feature isn’t active by default; it needs to be enabled manually. Noticeably, this will be convenient not only for the Pixel devices but also for all Android smartphones, as if Android has an in-built option to change the order of the buttons in the navigation bar, all brands that offer phones with the OS will be able to offer the feature.

Galaxy users can find this customization option under the Good Lock’s NavStar app, which offers dozens of additional notable options to customize the navigation bar beyond what One UI does; for instance, it allows adding more buttons, changing the shape/design of the buttons, and offering more convenient options.
