Samsung does not consider using its new 200MP camera in Galaxy phones

Samsung recently launched its new “new milestone in pixel innovation,” with its ISOCELL HP5 (200MP) mobile sensor to strengthen its position in the mobile camera market, but it will not use this sensor in Galaxy smartphones anytime soon, as the report says.

Earlier this week, the Korean tech giant introduced its new 200MP sensor, which packs 200 million pixels, each measuring 0.5 µm, into a 1/1.56-inch optical format. The sensor is claimed to deliver superior shots, from extended wide-angle shots to crystal-clear telephoto zooms.

The company has equipped the sensor with an effective resolution of 16,384 x 12,288 pixels (200 megapixels), 8K video recording at 30 fps, 4K at 120 fps, and Full HD at 480 fps support, 10-bit ADC accuracy, HDR Smart-ISO Pro, and a 1/1.56-inch optical format. Despite all of these capabilities, Samsung is not considering using this in-house mobile camera sensor for its Galaxy smartphones anytime soon.

A reliable tipster, @UniverseIce, shared a post on X, claiming that Samsung is not even considering using its newly launched HP5 200MP sensor and will continue to deceive for a few more years with the outdated Sony IMX854 sesame-sized sensor.

However, Samsung has yet to release any official statement on whether it will use its new HP5 200MP sensor for Galaxy smartphones anytime soon. It will be interesting to see whether the report will come true.
