Samsung’s next significant version of One UI iteration, One UI 8.5, is steadily taking shape, while a handful of leaks have suggested a lot in quite some time now, and it seems that the One UI 8.5 beta program is just around the corner. Meanwhile, a recent report suggested that the dark mode issue now finally has a fix, thanks to the leaked One UI 8.5 build.
Well, the previous report has already pointed towards the imminent arrival of Samsung’s next major OS, One UI 8.5, even though the company is continuously testing the latest build internally for the Galaxy S25 series.
At the same time, according to the leak from the leaker, GalaxyTechie, on X, shared a short glimpse via a video that apparently showcased that Samsung is perhaps working on bringing a new dark mode feature with the One UI 8.5 update. Essentially, in the video, some of the apps kept changing their background to black when dark mode is turned on.
However, this change doesn’t seem to be appearing for all the apps, at least for now, providing the newest One UI 8.5 build is currently in its early stages of development.
Other than that, the leaker further stated that with the One UI 8.5, the app icons also have a 3D shadow effect in both the light as well as dark modes, providing app icons even more depth in the dark mode icons, which in turn looks visually appealing than before. Well, the entire Galaxy audience has been eagerly waiting for dark mode to arrive in One UI.
Nevertheless, at the end, it is all up to Samsung whether it plans to bring the changes with the One UI 8.5 update or not. Also, it remains unclear whether the dark mode is for app icons or will also affect third-party apps.
