Samsung is indeed among the best Android smartphone manufacturers, which strives to deliver the software updates, be it the major OS, or the security patches. While the company is currently up for the distribution of the One UI 8 version, several Galaxy devices have already reached the end of their software and security support.
Well, Samsung always follows a tradition of delivering updates to its Galaxy devices according to its dedicated software update policy, and once the deadline passes, the company stops providing any updates further to the respective devices.
While the Korean company consists of a huge group of Galaxy products, from its flagships to mid-tier and budget-friendly devices, folding phones, and tablets, the cycle continues one after the other, where the device simply follows the update support policy till it is destined, and then Samsung automatically stops providing any further updates for the models.
The verse is well-said, “The thing that has started, has to come to an end”, while the same goes with Samsung Galaxy devices as well. At the same time, Samsung has also upgraded its software update support policy. Initially, Samsung began with the Galaxy S21 series, where the company introduced four generations of major software support alongside five years of security updates, and most of the devices in the Galaxy ecosystem follow the same policy.
However, beginning with the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung introduced a huge commitment of seven generations of major OS updates alongside seven years of security patches, which is definitely followed by newer generation flagships as well. Meanwhile, here are the Galaxy devices that are now out of the race of receiving even the security patches.
In other words, Samsung has completely ended both Major software and security update support for a handful of devices. These are as follows:
