Samsung drops the December 2025 Security Update for the Galaxy S24 series

Samsung has just opened the latest Android 16-based One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series in several eligible countries; meanwhile, the previous generation flagships, the Galaxy S24 lineup, have started receiving a new update, but it’s just the monthly patch.

While Samsung has rolled out the One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy S25 series models for the phase 1 countries and India, as well as Poland-based S25 owners are still waiting for their turn, the company shifts its focus to delivering the latest December 2025 security update for the Galaxy S24 series.

Specifically, the latest firmware for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra has been identified with the version numbers, respectively. Notably, the update is currently available in South Korea (as spotted via Samsung’s Official community) and is expected to reach even more countries over the coming weeks.

However, the latest update is just a minor update, which is a part of Samsung’s monthly security maintenance release. The December update doesn’t bring any major features or changes, but it significantly packs a handful of fixes for all the security vulnerabilities and focuses on improving the device’s overall security, core functionality, and efficiency to provide a more secure user experience, while also protecting the device against external threats.

In addition to that, the update further enhances the stability of the entire system’s behavior and introduces certain performance optimizations to provide a smoother, more stable, and optimized experience for users.

Well, as of now, Samsung has rolled out the December 2025 security update for the Galaxy S25 series, Fold 7, Flip 7, and the Galaxy S25 FE; nevertheless, a group of other eligible Galaxy phones and tablets will join the list in the near future.
