Samsung Closes One UI 8.5 Beta as Galaxy S26 Launch Nears

If you’ve been waiting to test One UI 8.5 on your Galaxy S25 in Korea, you’re out of luck. Samsung has quietly shut down new beta registrations after nearly two months of testing, and there’s no indication it plans to reopen them.

The company started the beta program on December 8, targeting Galaxy S25 users willing to help iron out bugs before the public rollout. Now, all available slots are filled. Samsung’s message is clear: no more testers needed.

The beta itself isn’t dead. Samsung is still pushing updates to existing participants, with a fourth build reportedly in the works. That suggests the company is refining features and addressing feedback, but only with the users already enrolled.

This approach isn’t unusual. Samsung tends to cap beta programs once it has enough data to move forward. The cutoff likely means the update is nearing completion, not that something went wrong.

One UI 8.5 should arrive with the Galaxy S26

Samsung hasn’t published a timeline, but the timing lines up with past releases. Major One UI versions typically launch alongside new flagship phones, and the Galaxy S26 series is expected next month.

Once the S26 drops, the Galaxy S25 will likely be first to receive the stable One UI 8.5 update. Whether other markets have also closed beta enrollment remains unclear, but if you’re outside Korea and still on the fence, now might be your last shot.
