One UI 8.5 Brings Professional-Grade Audio Recording to Galaxy Devices

Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8.5 is shaping up to be more than a cosmetic update. As the interface gets its final optimizations ahead of the Galaxy S26 launch on February 25, a newly discovered feature suggests Samsung is serious about turning its flagship phones into legitimate content creation tools.

The feature, spotted by leaker Galaxy Techie on X, is called High Quality Audio Input. It introduces an Advanced Audio mode that lets users record 24-bit audio through external microphones, including the ability to run two Bluetooth mics simultaneously. That last part matters. Dual-mic recording has typically required dedicated hardware or a full production setup. Having it work wirelessly on a smartphone is a meaningful step for anyone doing interviews, live streaming, or on-location video work.

Samsung has confirmed support for four specific external Bluetooth microphones at launch: the DJI Mic Mini, DJI Mic Mini 2, DJI Mic 2, and DJI Mic 3. Users can also adjust settings like noise reduction directly from the Now Bar or the live notification panel, which keeps things practical rather than buried in menus.

The DJI-only compatibility is worth noting. It likely reflects a deliberate partnership rather than broad Bluetooth audio support, which means users outside that ecosystem may have to wait.

What remains unclear is whether High Quality Audio Input will be limited to the Galaxy S26 series or roll out to older devices through a software update. Samsung has not confirmed either direction yet.

Given how competitive the creator-focused smartphone market has become, this feels like a calculated move rather than a bonus feature.
