Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Set for Netflix U.S. Debut on October 17
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is getting a Netflix home instead of the usual Crunchyroll simulcast. Netflix confirmed Wednesday that the newly remastered Dragon Ball Super anime will stream weekly in the United States starting October 17, 2026, a notable break from how Toei’s Dragon Ball titles have typically reached American audiences.
The series already premiered in Japan on October 11, airing on Fuji TV, with select international regions getting access even earlier, on October 14.
A Reconstructed Return to Battle of Gods
Despite the new title, Beerus isn’t an entirely original story. Producer Akio Iyoku described it as an “enhanced” edition of the original Dragon Ball Super, rebuilding the Battle of Gods and Golden Frieza arcs with new and redrawn cuts, revised scenes, re-rendered footage, and reworked sound and music. The approach mirrors what Dragon Ball Z Kai did to Dragon Ball Z, trimming filler and tightening pacing around Toriyama’s original outline.
The story picks up several years after the fight against Majin Buu, as Earth settles into a rare stretch of peace. That calm breaks when Beerus, the God of Destruction, awakens from a long sleep and sets his sights on Goku after hearing rumors of a Saiyan who defeated Frieza, putting the planet squarely in danger.
Kōichi Yamadera returns to voice Beerus. At 19 episodes, the series is expected to run into mid-February, carrying the story through to Goku’s climactic battle with Hit.
How to Watch
New episodes release on Netflix every Saturday at 3:00 a.m. ET / 12:00 a.m. PT starting October 17, streamed in Japanese with English subtitles. That schedule creates a six-day gap between an episode’s broadcast in Japan and its English-subtitled release on Netflix, similar to the weekly rollout Netflix previously used for Dragon Ball Daima and One Piece.

The first episode will also get an early screening at a dedicated Dragon Ball Super: Beerus panel during New York Comic Con on October 8, giving fans a preview more than a week before the full Netflix debut.
Why This Matters for Crunchyroll
Crunchyroll has historically been the default home for new Toei Dragon Ball releases, which makes its continued silence on Beerus notable. As of Netflix’s announcement, Crunchyroll had not confirmed any involvement with the series, raising the possibility that Netflix secured an exclusive U.S. streaming arrangement rather than a shared or day-and-date release. Neither Netflix nor Toei has explicitly used the word “exclusive,” so it’s worth watching whether Crunchyroll announces its own availability closer to the October 17 date.
Beerus also isn’t the franchise’s only project in motion. A direct sequel series, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, adapting the manga’s Galactic Patrol Prisoner arc, has already been announced for a future release.
