WoW Forever Beta Level Cap Jumps to 30, Early Name Reservation Confirmed for Late October
World of Warcraft: Forever’s beta just took its biggest step yet. Blizzard raised the level cap from 20 to 30 during an October 1 maintenance window, unlocking higher-level dungeons, world content, and new profession ranks for testers ahead of the game’s November 4 launch.
Blizzard community manager Kaivax confirmed the update in a blue post, noting the beta would go offline the morning of October 1 PDT and return several hours later with the new cap alongside other changes and fixes.
What Changed in the October 1 Build
Testers who’d been sitting at the old level 20 ceiling for roughly two weeks can now push into content that was previously out of reach, including dungeon brackets and world quests built around the higher cap. The update also reportedly includes a datamined batch of class changes, continuing a pattern of balance passes Blizzard has been running throughout the beta, including a recent Gnome racial nerf.
Separately, Blizzard also pushed Patch 12.1 hotfixes to live servers on October 1, covering issues in the main Modern WoW game, including a fix preventing a raid boss ability from meleeing players unexpectedly.
The WoW Forever beta remains live through October 21, 2026, with two ways to get in: free opt-in sign-ups through Battle.net, or guaranteed access by purchasing the Skyborne Epic Pack or Warcraft Forever Collection.

What’s Coming Next on the Calendar
Beyond the beta itself, Blizzard has locked in the remaining milestones before launch. Early Name Reservation opens October 27 and runs through November 3, letting players create and reserve up to three character names ahead of release. Invite-A-Friend codes from qualifying pre-purchase packs begin going out by email on October 20, ready to use during launch week.
World of Warcraft: Forever is also making an appearance on the show floor at PAX Australia, running October 9 through 11. The beta closes October 21, leading into a short gap before the game’s global launch on November 4 at 3:00 p.m. PST, with no staggered early access window planned.
