Battlefield 6 Season 5 goes live today, October 13, marking one year since the game’s original launch and kicking off Year 2 of content for both Battlefield 6 and REDSEC. The update unlocks globally at 12:00 p.m. UTC, following preload availability that opened earlier in the day at 8:00 a.m. UTC.

Called Siege of Vegas, this is the first of three phases making up Season 5, and EA is billing it as the biggest seasonal update the game has had to date.

What Launches Today

Phase 1 brings two new maps, Vegas Strip and Area 51, both set across the glitz and military secrecy of Las Vegas. Four new weapons arrive alongside them: the Z84M light machine gun, the RSPR submachine gun, the ELR-40 sniper rifle, and the MK24 assault rifle, each tuned to fit different roles across the new terrain.

REDSEC gets its own headline addition in Rapid Royale, a faster battle royale mode built specifically around the Vegas Strip map, using redeploy tokens to keep matches shorter and more intense than the standard battle royale experience. A new Ranked season and the REDSEC Open Series also begin today, with an Elite Series for top squads, backed by cash prizes, arriving later in the season.

Season 5 also introduces Leaderboards for tracking performance over time, alongside Platoons. One mode isn’t making the cut, though: Gauntlet is being removed from Battlefield 6 as of today’s launch.

Combat and Class Changes

Beyond new content, DICE is adjusting several core systems this season. Vehicle health regeneration and damage are being tuned to better reward infantry positioning and flanking, while Anti-Air systems are getting changes aimed at creating a stronger back-and-forth between ground-based Anti-Air and aircraft. Main Battle Tank munitions have also been retuned to hit their intended targets more effectively.

Classes are seeing a rework too. The Drone Specialist and Hazmat Breacher alternate training paths are being removed entirely, with each class instead receiving new, more distinct tactical upgrades as part of a broader rebalance.

What’s Coming Later in the Season

Siege of Vegas is just the opening phase. A limited-time Dead Space crossover event runs October 20 through November 7, bringing a Halloween scenario, themed cosmetics, and environments inspired by the 2023 Dead Space remake, set within Area 51.

Phase 2, Casino Heist, launches November 10 with a third new map, European Casino, built around close-quarters combat and destructible environments, along with two more weapons. Phase 3, Frozen Aces, closes out the season and the year on December 8, bringing freezing conditions to Las Vegas and a new Operation spanning both Vegas Strip and Area 51.
