Samsung Could Ditch Snapdragon SoC to Use In-House Exynos Chips For Galaxy Z Flip 6
Samsung, after it collaborated with Qualcomm, stuck with the Snapdragon chipset for its flagship device, especially for the Galaxy Z Fold and Flip devices. It hardly goes with its in-house Exynos chipset. But now it appears that the giants may change their strategy.
Samsung is looking forward to its next-generation foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, which are supposed to debut at the next Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2024. If the reports are to be believed, the Korean giants will ditch the Snapdragon SoC for its in-house Exynos with the forthcoming foldables.
This is being speculated by a post on X shared by a tipster, @Kro_roe, which mentioned the Galaxy Z Flip 6 Spec Sheet, which unveiled that the forthcoming Flip 6 will be powered by a Snapdragon or Exynos chip based on the region. However, apart from this, no detailed information such as SoC model numbers is mentioned. Samsung will use the strategy of using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or the Exynos 2400 for the sixth generation foldable; it is not crystal clear yet.
Although chipsets based on regions are not new, we have already seen that Samsung powered its recently launched Galaxy S24 with the Exynos 2400 in Europe, Asia, and other major markets, with the Snapdragon variant exclusive to the US.
Apart from the chipset, it is also mentioned in the specs sheet that the Galaxy Z Flip 6 will get up to 12GB of RAM based on region and up to 512 GB of internal storage. Following the storage details, battery information is mentioned, which states that this time the Giants will offer long-lasting battery life as compared to their predecessor. Also, the giants are actively working on a 120 Hz external screen, which is still in development.

A reliable tipster on X is reporting that the external screen of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is 60.2mm, whereas its predecessor series, the Galaxy Z Fold 5,’s external display is 57.4mm. If this report comes, then you will get a wider external screen, which will surely enhance the experience, but not too wide.
The corners of the display also seem to be markedly sharper. This time, they are not rounded, as was the design in previous generations. Samsung is expected to debut the sixth-generation foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, and maybe the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE, at the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is supposed to be held on July 10th in Paris.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is next in line to expand the flagship S series, is supposed to be scheduled for early 2025, and is expected to be powered by the in-house Exynos in the Galaxy S25 Ultra model as well.
Samsung usually announces its latest S series smartphone early in the first quarter of the year; for instance, the Galaxy S24 debuted in January this year and the Galaxy S23 debuted in February 2023. Meanwhile, it’s not clear yet whether this is because the Nuvia cores of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are not good, making the Exynos 2500 relatively better, or if the Exynos 2500 itself is better.
From the two-generation Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24, Samsung relies on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipset for the Ultra variant, but now it appears that Samsung could use the Exynos 2500 chipset for the forthcoming Galaxy S25 Ultra smartphone. However, Samsung has not officially unveiled anything regarding this report yet.
