One UI 7.0 Could Bring iOS Like Battery Health Statistics Facility

Published

on

Android 15-based One UI 7.0 is the new hope for Galaxy users, especially for those whose satisfaction was not fulfilled with the last One UI update. This time, the expectation is to bring detailed statistics on battery health features from the forthcoming One UI 7.0 update.

Android 15-based One UI 7.0 is supposed to arrive in the second half. Now it is expected that with this update, Samsung could offer the facility to implement the improved battery statistics function; this functionality will depend on the API value returns. This feature will report more detailed information regarding the battery’s health, for instance, battery charge cycle count, charging policy, charging status, and more.

This is being speculated by a post on X, shared by a tipster named @kro-roe, in which he attached a screenshot that revealed that Samsung could offer a detailed battery health statistics feature along with One UI 7.0.

However, this revelation is not surprising, since last time, during the One UI 6.0 revelation, it was reported that One UI 6.0 may bring detailed statistics on battery health features, but that didn’t come true. Now the same leaks are coming for the One UI 7.0 update.

The battery health metrics depend on BatteryHealth APIs, which lean on the capabilities of the charging IC and HAL, so the accuracy may vary depending on the smartphone or other devices. Samsung’s biggest rival, Apple, has already been offering this feature to its iPhones for so long.

Meanwhile, Samsung has not committed officially yet regarding this facility, but it will be interesting to see whether this feature will be included in the One UI 7.0 features list or not.

Android 15-based One UI 7.0 is the next major iteration for Samsung Galaxy devices. Receiving a new Android-based One UI update means a kind of new birth for the Galaxy phone, but it’s hard to relate when your device stands in line to receive the last major OS update.

Downheartedly, here we are mentioning a Samsung Galaxy device list that will be eligible to receive the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 update, but unfortunately as the last one.

Samsung drops the software support for Galaxy devices when they have already reached the peak of dedicated major OS updates. Before you go through the list, let us confirm that this is an unofficial list that we have prepared by keeping in mind the software update policy for each Samsung Galaxy device, as per which the mentioned device may receive Android 15 as their final major OS update.

These Samsung Galaxy devices will receive Android 15 as their final OS update

Galaxy Z Series (foldable)

  • Galaxy Z Flip 3
  • Galaxy Z Fold 3

Galaxy S Series (flagship)

  • Galaxy S21
  • Galaxy S21+
  • Galaxy S21 Ultra

Galaxy A Series (mid-range)

  • Galaxy A14
  • Galaxy A14 5G
  • Galaxy A05
  • Galaxy A05s

Galaxy M Series (affordable mid-range)

  • Galaxy M14 4G
  • Galaxy M14 5G

Galaxy F Series

  • Galaxy F14 5G

Samsung has already started the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 beta’s internal testing for its current high-end Galaxy S24 smartphones, as we already reported about the spotting, and it is expected that Samsung could introduce One UI 7.0 sometime between late October and September 2024.

Android 15 is running in the developing beta phase, and it appears that the stable version could bring a bundle of convenient facilities; for instance, a full-screen application, taking notes directly from the lock screen, default wallet app settings, more Wi-Fi security options, cellular network security, and many more. Since Google is working on these features for Android devices, the Galaxy device can arrive by default; however, Samsung has the right to represent these features with its One UI 7.0 skin, and it is also possible that it may hold a few features and give them with the next One UI 7.1 update.

One UI 7 Features Wishlist: What We Want To See

Published

Samsung’s Android 15-based One UI 7.0 beta’s internal testing has started. It is expected to bring dozens of features, customizations, and seamless functionality, but despite all this, we are discussing some features from our wishlist that One UI 7 should bring.

One UI 7 Features Wishlist

Transparently, One UI is one of the best Android skins in the industry, but that doesn’t mean it’s perfectly fine in all ways, since some long-requested features are still missing. One UI 7.0 will be based on Android 15, so it’s quite possible to bring Android 15 features such as App Archive, Notification Cooldown, and Audio Sharing. Let’s take a closer look at the wishlist that we are expecting from One UI 7.

  • Vertical App Drawer:

The vertical app drawer is one of the most long-requested features, while Android devices have had a vertically scrolling app drawer. Since Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Samsung has stuck with a horizontal page-style drawer. Somehow scrolling through pages upon pages to find the one opp seems inconvenient. However, the leaks suggest that Samsung is working on this feature for the One UI 7 update.

  • Multiple Lock and Home Screen Setup

Apple brought the ability to create multiple lock screens and a home screen setup that lets you switch between them, just like the watch faces on your smartwatch. This feature seems quite convenient, the Galaxy user wants Samsung to permit users to rotate between different lock screen setups and provide more customization options, including support for third-party widgets.

  • Battery and Storage Health Data:

The reports already suggested that Samsung is working on bringing battery health data to One UI 7, but Samsung has yet to confirm this officially. This facility permits users to check the charging cycles and battery health, similar to iPhones and some OnePlus devices. However, Android 15 might add a feature to display storage health that will also degrade over time, so Samsung should adopt it as well.

  • App Sandbox:

The best part of Android is that it lets you download and install applications from third-party sources. The sandbox would run the application in isolation with minimal permissions, avoiding unauthorized access by accessing user data or interfering with the system. It activates automatically for unreliable app downloads to upgrade user data security.

  • Improved Pro Mode:

Samsung should offer more functionality in Pro Mode to enhance the user’s experience, such as grid lines for the Pro Mode viewfinder and switching between different image formats. Flagship Galaxy devices support shooting in RAW format with the usual JPEG. You can choose to shoot with either format in Pro Mode, but both of these options are also buried in the camera settings.

  • Customizable Icons:

Samsung’s icons stand out from the crowd, but similar to the app drawer, they have not seen major improvements throughout the years. Currently, users can only change the material theming, but some options, such as changing shape, size, and even color, are not available yet. However, the GoodLock module called Theme Park permits you to do the same, but a native option within the OS will be much more convenient.

  • Redesigned Quick Settings:

Previously, One UI offered a quick settings panel accessible with one hand. However, the Samsung One UI 6 update expands the panel to fill the entire screen, making it harder to reach the top controls such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth without using two hands. A one-hand-friendly redesign of the quick settings panel will offer better accessibility facilities.

So these are some features that we are expecting from the Android 15-based One UI 7 update, although Samsung has not announced anything regarding the features of One UI 7 yet. But it will be interesting to see what new novelties One UI 7 will bring.

One UI 7 Android 15

Samsung’s next major iteration, Android 15-based ‘One UI 7.0’, is on the way to knock on your Galaxy smartphone’s door, as the giant started internal testing.

Android 15 is already in its public beta testing stage on Pixel devices. Now Samsung has also started setting up to adopt Android 15 for its Galaxy series, with the release of One UI 7.0 expected by the end of this year.

Previously, we reported that Samsung might start working on One UI 7.0, and finally, the evidence came into existence since a reliable tipster, reported about the spotting of the first build of One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The tipster shared a post on X, which indicates that the Korean giant has begun internal testing and a beta update will soon be available. I spotted that the version specified as S928BXXU2BXE2 was found on Checkfirm. It is also reported that the tests are currently being conducted in Europe. One UI Beta Program lets the giant test new features and improvements ahead of an official release.

However, the One UI 7.0 Beta Program will only be limited to just seven regions, including the US, China, Germany, India, Poland, Korea, and the UK.

This permits the users to try out the next interface and provide feedback, helping Samsung enhance the user experience. As per Samsung’s policy, initially, it will make the One UI 7 Beta available for the latest flagship devices, which are the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra models.

Then later, older flagship devices such as the Galaxy S23 series and Galaxy S22 series will join the beta program. Apart from the flagship devices, some of the mid-range models, such as the Galaxy A55 and Galaxy A35, may also have the opportunity to participate in beta testing.
