One UI 7.0 Won’t Release Early, as One UI 6.1.1 Takes Priority
Samsung users are eagerly waiting for the powerful package of innovative features, notable customization changes, and upgrades within the title One UI 7.0. But the wait is dragging on since One UI 7 will not arrive too early, as the report says.
Samsung One UI 7 to Arrive Later Than Expected Due to One UI 6.1.1
Previously, by following the last One UI update’s schedule, it was reported that One UI 7.0 beta could arrive sometime in August, but that’s not the case anymore. Samsung, apart from One UI 7, is also setting up for One UI 6.1.1 to be introduced on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 out of the box on July 10 at the Galaxy Unpacked event. This means that One UI 6.1.1 is first in line to be scheduled.
One UI 6.1.1 update will also bring a bunch of new AI functions, which suggests that it’s not a minor upgrade. Once this update arrives on the latest Galaxy foldable, the brand will deliver it to Galaxy S24 users in August. So by this prospect, the scheduling plan for the One UI 7 could seem to be delayed.
A well-reliable tipster on X also shared a post hinting that “One UI 7 will not arrive very early, because there are special circumstances this year.”
If the reports are to be believed, then One UI 7 will arrive just after the eligible devices get One UI 6.1.1, especially theGalaxy S24 series. This is because Samsung usually releases the latest major OS updates on the latest flagship device, which is the Galaxy S24 for now. Instead of clashing two major updates, it’s better for Samsung to release One UI 7 later. However, Samsung has yet to announce the official release date of One UI 7.

Now the company is preparing to release One UI 6.1.1, the next feature-full update, which will be based on Android 14. Samsung is all set to play a big game within the coming months; next month it will host the biggest Galaxy Unpacked event, and three months later in October it will release the stable One UI 7 based on the Android 15 software version.
Among the Samsung fan community, all eyes are on the forthcoming iteration of Android 15-based One UI 7.0. We have already discussed the release date of this latest software update, but the result was confusing. Now the new report is revealing that One UI 7 will be on the floor in October 2024.
One UI 7.0 (Android 15) Launch Date
Samsung announced that SDC24 is scheduled for October 3 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in Downtown San Jose, California, which will be the formal launch date of One UI 7. This hints that the major upgrade is just three months away for the eligible Galaxy smartphones. The Samsung Developer Conference will be held on October 3, 2024. On another note, Google also confirmed its Made by Google event for August, at which the giant might announce the Android 15 alongside Pixel smartphones.
The company might show all the features of One UI 7.0 and then release the first stable version to compatible devices a few days after that. Last year, the SDC 2023 event was on October 5, and the stable One UI 6.0 update came out later that month.
Previously, it was reported that, due to One UI 6.1.1, Samsung could delay releasing One UI 7, but that is not the case anymore. The One UI 7 beta internal testing has already been spotted on the server for the Galaxy S24 series several times. The One UI 7 Beta program could start in August, following Android 15’s launch. More than 50 Galaxy smartphones and tablets are in line to get the One UI 7.0 update.
This upcoming update is expected to upgrade Bluetooth Auracast, NFC, UI design, animations, a vertical app drawer, enhanced battery life, and most notably, the App Lock feature. Android 15 and One UI 7.0 are expected to include several other improvements. Apart from this, it could also bring improvements to other One UI ecosystem features, such as Bixby, Buds Auto Switch, Galaxy AI, Gaming Hub, Modes & Routines, Multi Control, and more.

Samsung has already started developing Android 15-based One UI 7.0 internal beta testing for the recently launched Galaxy S24 series. This latest update could bring a new feature to enhance users’ secure experience by letting them lock their apps easily without even requiring third-party apps.
Samsung’s One UI 7: App Lock Feature in the Works?
The new report says that the One UI 7.0 could bring a new App Lock feature, which is currently missing from Samsung’s One UI. This is being speculated by a tipster named @tarunvats33 on X, who suggested that “One UI 7 might bring App Lock, letting you lock down any app you want.”
With the upcoming One UI 7.0 iteration, a new option called App Lock will appear, placed right below the Dual Messenger feature. You can easily access this security option by taking the easy steps, which are as follows: Go to Settings >> Advanced Features >> At the end, you will see an app lock feature.
Currently, the devices that are running at least on the One UI 6.1 version don’t include the Lock App below the Dual Messanger feature within the list of advanced features. Users can hide their sensitive application documents and media files in a secure folder; they need to set it up fully and then install a new instance of that application. Finally, to avoid a time-consuming process, Samsung with One UI 7.0 could bring the App Lock feature.
