Samsung is actively customizing its in-house Exynos 2500 chipset, which is anticipated to power the forthcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Recently Samsung ditched the Exynos 2500 to power the newly launched Galaxy S25 series over Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, but now it seems that it could use its in-house chipset for the upcoming flagship device, Galaxy Z Flip 7.
A few hours ago, Samsung held its Q4 2024 earnings call, at which it revealed future strategies regarding its Exynos 2500 chipset. Bryan Ma, on X, shared a post claiming that Samsung System LSI just mentioned in its earnings call that it is working on optimizing Exynos 2500.
He also mentioned “aiming to secure design wins for mobile models scheduled for release in 2H.”
This report hints that Samsung could use the Exynos 2500 to power the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The chipset is expected to feature one ARM Cortex-X925 core @3.3GHz, two ARM Cortex-A725 CPU cores @2.75GHz, five Cortex-A725 cores @2.36GHz, two Cortex-A520 cores @1.8GHz, 16MB of L3 cache, a 1.3GHz Samsung Xclipse 950 GPU with AMD RDNA3.5 architecture, and an NPU with 56 TOPs.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is already rumored to be based on the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Although there’s no official word regarding all these expectations, it remains to see, which chipset the company will use to power its next-generation foldable series.
