Galaxy S26 Ultra Could Boast Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 Chip

The Samsung Galaxy S26 is scheduled for early 2026, and the Ultra variant of the series is supposed to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which targets more than 11,000 Geekbench scores to deliver high-end performance.

It’s already rumored that the Korean tech giant could go with the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, at least to power the Galaxy S26 Ultra, whereas the Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 are based on the in-house Exynos 2600.

Recently, it’s been reported that Qualcomm has revealed the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will launch by the end of the third quarter at the Snapdragon Summit 2025, which will take place from September 23 to 25 in Maui, Hawaii.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will be based on Qualcomm’s second-gen custom Oryon CPU cores. Meanwhile, a tipster, Digital Chat Station (via), revealed that the chipset appeared on Geekbench, and according to the listing, the single core of the chip scored over 4,000, whereas the multi-core scored over 11,000. In case Qualcomm achieves these scores, then it would be a significant jump from the current Snapdragon 8 Elite.

Qualcomm, with Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, is refining its Oryon architecture, optimizing power delivery, and core efficiency. Qualcomm is rumored to use the Adreno 840 GPU for the chipset, which is compatible with higher sustained performance, enhanced ray tracing, and better AI-driven rendering. The chip will feature a 16MP GMEM cache to reduce latency and power draw in complex rendering scenes.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is highly anticipated to bring a new revolution to the chipset market, and its high-end performance could force smartphone manufacturers to use the chip.
