Samsung has yet to launch its first tri-foldable phone (Galaxy Tri-Fold); meanwhile, a new report suggests that it will add “Wide Fold” next year to expand its foldable lineup.
The company is already working on its multi-folding device to launch by the end of this year. Meanwhile, a new report from a reliable blog, ETNews, revealed that Samsung Electronics is looking forward to expanding its foldable smartphone lineup by introducing two Fold models next year.
Reportedly, the new Fold is expected to feature a screen ratio that is shorter vertically when folded but longer horizontally. The key aim behind this strategy is to create a “wide-type” fold, combining two 18:9 screens to create an internal display with a nearly identical 18:18 aspect ratio.
According to the report, Samsung has shared its development plans for its future “Wide-Fold” and stated, “Given the timing of these discussions, it is expected to launch simultaneously with the foldable phone series in the second half of next year.” The source added, “While specific specifications have not yet been finalized, details will be finalized by the end of this month or early next month.”
The statement hints that the device will be launched alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 in the early second half of 2026. On the rivalry side, Apple is quite behind Samsung’s move to add a new foldable phone with an adjusted aspect ratio to its lineup.
It will be quite interesting to see whether Samsung’s strategy will strengthen its position in the foldable market against its rival.
