Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Could Arrive with Built-In Privacy Screen

Samsung is still busy rolling out the stable One UI 8.0 update completely, while the leaked One UI 8.5 builds have already started teasing the fans via a sneak peek at the essentials of what the Galaxy S26 series might offer right out of the box.

In a few recent days, the One UI 8.5 leaked builds have revealed several key upgrades and features coming with the Galaxy S26 series. Now, a new report from Android Authority shared a few One UI 8.5 builds, which also include references to the much-anticipated privacy display on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

According to the new report, the leaked One UI 8.5 build suggests the next-generation Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a privacy screen feature. Previously, it was reported that the feature would rely on Samsung’s Flex Magic Pixel technology, which adjusts the viewing angles of the screen using AI, allowing the display to remain readable only to the person directly in front of it, effectively preventing shoulder surfing in crowded environments.

Now the One UI 8.5 build refers to the feature as Private Display or Privacy Display, which will have at least two modes, which are as follows.

  • A Maximum Privacy mode, which dims the screen for extra protection
  • A manual setting, which likely offers more granular control.

Custom conditions could allow you to activate Private Display for particular apps, for instance, banking or messaging applications, or according to a set schedule. It seems that this will remain exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra; however, the official statement regarding this has yet to arrive.

It will be interesting to see exactly what notable new features Samsung will introduce with the next software, One UI 8.5.
