Samsung ranks first in the global smartphone market during Q3 2025

Samsung surpassed its rival Apple in the global smartphone market during Q3 2025 with 19% market share, showing its strong position in the industry.

In a few recent months, Samsung has strengthened its position in several key business areas, such as chip manufacturing, smartphones, and more. The firm has recently secured major chip manufacturing orders from crucial brands, including Apple and Tesla.

Meanwhile, a new report from IDC revealed that Samsung ranked in first position in the global smartphone market during Q3 2025. According to the metrics, the company shipped 61.4 million smartphones, which helps it earn 19% market share. This is a 6.3% growth compared to the same period last year (Q3 2024).

In Q3 2024, Samsung shipped 57.7 million smartphones and secured 18.4% market share. One of the reasons behind this success is the newly launched foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.

On the rivalry side, Apple is following Samsung with 58.6 million iPhone sales and has secured 18.2% market share. Year-over-year, Apple sees a 2.9% growth, which is not enough to lead the market. While other brands, such as Xiaomi, ranked third after shipping 43.5 million phones, Transsion shipped 29.2 million, and vivo shipped 28.8 million.

Currently, Samsung is well-positioned in the market, and it’s expected that it will maintain the leading position as it has a few flagship phones in the lineup, such as the Galaxy Tri-Fold, the Galaxy S26 series, and more, which will help to maintain the legacy.
