Samsung is set to end its collaboration with Microsoft for photo backups

Samsung has collaborated with Microsoft, which treated Galaxy owners with OneDrive integration in the Gallery app; however, it looks like the company is apparently planning to part ways with Microsoft for photo backup.
In case you missed it! Samsung partnered with Microsoft in February 2024, which offered OneDrive for photo backup. Now, a new report from a user, NirmalSri, on X (via Android Authority) suggested that Samsung is already planning to end Samsung and OneDrive integration from its Gallery app.
After April 11, 2026, photos in the Samsung Gallery app will no longer sync with OneDrive, thus ending support forever. In other words, photos and videos will not be synced from the Gallery app to OneDrive, and the company is making a shift towards Samsung Cloud. This eventually provides an exact date when the shift will take effect.

Noticeably, the information about Samsung ending OneDrive integration from its Gallery app comes from a freshly leaked One UI 8.5 firmware; therefore, there are still chances that Samsung could change this decision before official rollout.
Well, Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8.5 update is considered to bring various major and out-of-the-box features, changes, and improvements.
Nevertheless, the testing for the latest build has already begun for the Galaxy S26 and S25 series internally on test servers. While the One UI 8.5 beta program is reportedly set to start from next month, it remains to be seen what is being prepared for the Galaxy ecosystem.
