Samsung’s upcoming flagship is getting optical upgrades that should matter in everyday use, but the storage ceiling isn’t budging.
Leaked specs from tipster Ahmed Qwaider show the Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature a 200MP main camera with an F1.4 aperture and a 50MP telephoto at F2.9. Both are improvements over the S25 Ultra’s F1.7 and F3.4 apertures. Wider openings mean more light reaches the sensor, which translates to cleaner low-light shots and less blur when shooting handheld in dim environments.
This isn’t just a numbers game. Night photography, indoor scenes, and any situation with challenging lighting should see real gains. Samsung has been refining its camera hardware aggressively, and these changes suggest a focus on practical performance over spec inflation.
The memory configuration is less exciting. The top-tier model will offer 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, identical to what’s currently available. Given the global RAM shortage, keeping this option available is reasonable, but it’s still a cap that feels dated compared to competitors pushing higher limits.
Whether Samsung increases the price for this variant remains unclear, though it wouldn’t be surprising given component costs.
The Galaxy S26 series is expected to launch on February 26, with pre-orders opening the same week. Retail availability should begin around March 11 in select markets.
Samsung is playing to its strengths with the camera improvements while holding the line on storage. It’s a conservative approach, but one that prioritizes where most users will actually notice the difference.
