Daemons of the Shadow Realm Season 2 Confirmed After 24-Episode Finale

Daemons of the Shadow Realm is getting a second season. The announcement dropped on September 19, 2026, right after Season 1’s 24th and final episode, “Higashi Village and Nishino Village.” A new visual and teaser went out with the news. No premiere date, no episode count, no staff-change note.

Season 1 ran two cours without a long break: April 4 through June 27, then episode 13 on July 4, through September 19. Crunchyroll carried the simulcast. Netflix also listed the show in some regions.

Daemons of the Shadow Realm – What’s Confirmed

Hiromu Arakawa, the Fullmetal Alchemist author, has been serializing Yomi no Tsugai in Monthly Shonen Gangan since December 2021. Square Enix Manga & Books publishes the English volumes. Thirteen tankobon were out as of July 2026. The manga is ongoing, so Season 2 has room to keep going.

The story follows twins Yuru and Asa, “the children who sunder day and night.” They were split as kids. Yuru grows up a hunter in a sealed mountain village. Asa is kept caged for a village “duty.” Certain humans command paired spirits called tsugai, or daemons. The twins’ birthright is to rule that power. After the village falls and a false Asa is exposed, Yuru contracts the guardian pair Right and Left and goes looking for the real sister and their missing parents.

Bones Film animated Season 1. Masahiro Ando (Sword of the Stranger) directed. Noboru Takagi (Golden Kamuy) wrote the scripts. Nobuhiro Arai (Bungo Stray Dogs) designed the characters. Kenichiro Suehiro scored it.

Main voices: Kensho Ono as Yuru, Yume Miyamoto as Asa, Yuichi Nakamura as Dera, Misaki Kuno as Gabu-chan, Rikiya Koyama as Right, Takako Honda as Left, Miyuri Shimabukuro as Hana.

The finale does not close the book. Nishino Village steps forward after 400 years of waiting. Higashi Village is still in the fight. Akio is on the run. Hana’s fate is left hanging. The Season 2 teaser visual puts Yuru, Asa, Right, Left, Gabby, Dera, Hana, Ivan, and Misasagi on the same card.

What This Means for Fans

Arakawa plus Bones is the draw. Season 1 was a clean two-cour run, which is rarer than a split-cour stall. Renewing on the finale night is the studio saying the first 24 episodes were a first act, not a one-and-done test.

The risk is the wait. No year is attached. The manga is still mid-story, so the anime is not racing a finished ending the way Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood did.
