Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 4G Model Gets October 2022 Security Update

Samsung is now updating the Galaxy S20 FE LTE model to the latest Android October 2022 security patch in various regions. However, the company has already installed the update for the 5G variant.

The Galaxy S20 FE’s latest update is now serving with the October 2022 security patch, and it also fixes security vulnerabilities found in Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Some of those vulnerabilities allowed unauthorized users to access call information, the device’s serial number, configuration data, and secure memory content and allowed them to perform malicious actions.

The latest update indicated the firmware version number G780GXXU3CVI4 for the Galaxy S20 FE 4G variant in Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines.

You can check for updates through the following function:

  1. Go to Settings (by clicking on the gear icon that appears at the bottom right after lowering the notification dropper twice)
  2. Select Software Update
  3. Click Download and Install

After introducing the April 2024 security patch to the Galaxy Z Fold 4Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Z Fold 3 devices, Samsung has now made the April 2024 security patch update live for the Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy S21 smartphones in South Korea. Earlier, the company had already distributed the same update for these smartphones in some regions.

Notably, the Galaxy S23 FE is getting the April 2024 security patch update in South Korea with the firmware version number S711NKSS1BXD5. For the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, the update is coming with the firmware version numbers S901NKSU3DXD3, S906NKSU3DXD3, and S908NKSU3DXD3, respectively. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra are getting the same update with firmware version numbers G991NKSU4FXD3, G996NKSU4FXD3, and G998NKSU4FXD3, respectively.

The April 2024 update brings new security-related enhancements; as per the documentation, there are more than 40 fixes introduced. Google has included 27 fixes that will resolve issues in the Android OS. Along with this, Samsung has also added 17 patches that will fix the issues found in Galaxy devices exclusively.

Along with this, Samsung has also introduced a mobile ID function for the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 users. With this function, users will be able to carry their driving license and national veteran registration card in the Samsung Wallet.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 is one of the flagship smartphones from the Korean giant; it was launched back last year and comes with One UI 5.1 based on Android 13 preinstalled. As per the latest development, the device has already received some significant updates in the form of One UI 6.0 and One UI 6.1 based on Android 14. With the continuation, the device is getting a new security update in the form of the April 2024 patch.
