Ever since Samsung started rolling out Android 13, it has slowed down its security updates a bit, due to which the company has now distributed the December 2022 update delayed; the Korean giant has released December 2022 patch to its handful of flagships, tablets, and mid-range devices.
Meanwhile, the news from the T-Mobile network is that it released the December 2022 security patch for the Galaxy S22. Now, after the release of the security update by T-Mobile, we expect that the latest update will soon be available on the other network.
Users who own Galaxy S22 series can identify the latest update by checking the firmware version numbers S901USQU2BVL1, S906USQU2BVL1 and, S908USQU2BVL1 for Galaxy S22 general, Galaxy S22 Plus, and Galaxy S22 Ultra, respectively.
The December 2022 security patch includes several bug fixes, which are added by Google and Samsung together; all the patches target the vulnerabilities and improve the overall performance and stability of the device.

According to the Samsung documentation, the latest patches include the fix to as many as 93 vulnerabilities, 67 of them common to (almost) all Android devices. Of the long list, 5 vulnerabilities are defined as critical, 63 high priority, and 12 moderate. Most of these vulnerabilities affect Galaxy smartphones and tablets with Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12, but some also touch the latest version of the robot. Among the latter, one concerns the RCS system, which would allow malicious actors to access the phone number of an incoming call. It also required action on the vulnerability that would allow access to the contents of the toast notifications of the Personal Area through the Nice Catch app (it is part of the Good Lock package).

- First, go to system settings, then
- Click on the Software update menu
- Then click on the Download and Install button, it will start downloading and get installed automatically.
