Galaxy S10 gets new firmware with December 2022 patch in Europe
Since the beginning of the month, Samsung has been actively serving the latest security update in the form of a December 2022 security patch; after updating several latest Galaxy devices, Samsung has now served the update to its three-year-old device Galaxy S10 devices.
As per the information, the December 2022 security update includes over 93 fixes that improve the performance and stability of the device as well as also enhances the overall security of the device. It is a type of security maintenance update that resolves reported issues and makes your device bug-free.
The update is currently available in several European countries, including Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Southeast Europe, Switzerland, the Baltic region, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, and the Nordic region. However, the update should be available in other parts of the world soon.
Users who own Galaxy S10 devices can identify the firmware version numbers G973FXXSGHVL1, G975FXXSGHVL1, and G970FXXSGHVL1 for Galaxy S10, S10 Plus, and S10e, respectively.
December 2022 Security Patch Vulnerabilities:
According to the Samsung documentation, the latest patches include the fix to as many as 93 vulnerabilities, 67 of them common to (almost) all Android devices. Of the long list, 5 vulnerabilities are defined as critical, 63 high priority, and 12 moderate. Most of these vulnerabilities affect Galaxy smartphones and tablets with Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12, but some also touch the latest version of the robot. Among the latter, one concerns the RCS system, which would allow malicious actors to access the phone number of an incoming call. It also required action on the vulnerability that would allow access to the contents of the toast notifications of the Personal Area through the Nice Catch app (it is part of the Good Lock package).
Galaxy S10 series was released back in 2019 and came with Android 9 (pie) and upgraded to Android 12, unfortunately, the device is not eligible for Android 13, but we hope that it should get more new security updates in the future.
Samsung has introduced the May 2024 security patch to the Galaxy device, initiating with the Galaxy S24 devices; however, the update hasn’t fully reached all the units available worldwide, but the company is expanding it rapidly to the remaining ones. Now, with the latest development, the company has started rolling out the update in the Australian region.
The Australian units of the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra are getting new updates with the firmware version numbers S921BXXS2AXD5, S926BXXS2AXD5, and S928BXXS2AXD5 sequentially.
The latest update for the Galaxy S24 series has only brought some security-related enhancements; you may not notice any visual effect on your device. However, if you have been facing any issues since updating the March software update, you should check out the latest update as it may provide fixes.
According to the official documentation, the May 2024 security patch will address more than 50 different system variabilities. More specifically, Google has introduced 31 fixes that will improve the functioning of the Android ecosystem; meanwhile, Samsung has also added 25 fixes for Galaxy devices exclusively.
Galaxy S24 users can now easily update the device to the May 2024 update by going to the software update menu manually in system settings. As the company has recently initiated the update in Australia, it is possible to take time to reach every unit, so keep patience.
