Samsung updating Galaxy S22 and S21 to December 2022 patch in Australia

Samsung is back again with December 2022 security update. This time company is updating two Galaxy S series devices in Australia; the company is tightly following its goal of providing updates, and after updating several Galaxy devices. Now, the Korean giant is serving the latest security update to two more devices named Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22.

Samsung Galaxy S22

Galaxy S22 device is now receiving a new update in the form of a security patch while the device has already received Android 13 a way before, and if we talk about the outside of Australia, Galaxy S22 received the December 2022 security update a few days ago. The latest update carries a new firmware version number S901EXXU2BVKM, S906EXXU2BVKM and S908EXXU2BVKM for Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra, respectively.

Samsung Galaxy S21

Samsung S21 device was launched back in 2021, and at that time, it was the premium flagship device of Samsung; the device comes with Android 11. Now the device is upgraded to the latest one with Android 13; now, the device is receiving a new firmware update in the form of a December 2022 security patch. Users who own the Galaxy S21 device can identify the latest update by its build number G991BXXU5DVKF, G996BXXU5DVKF and G998BXXU5DVKF for Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra, respectively.

According to the changelog, the December 2022 security update includes 93 patches which fix privacy and security-related issues and exposers, from these 80 patches are included by google, which resolves the issues regarding Android OS and another 13 patches are included by Samsung to fix the loopholes of security in the Galaxy devices.

Samsung brings the LTE TDD band support for these Galaxy devices in Europe via software update

Samsung has rolled out the second April 2024 update, which provides support for the new LTE TDD band. Several devices, including the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy S23 FE, and Galaxy A54, have spotted the update in Europe as of writing. As per the changelog, it seems that the new feature, the 4G LTE TDD band, may be exclusively available for the European region.

Samsung Galaxy Phones get LTE TDD Band Support in Europe

Samsung, on the other hand, doesn’t explain the release of this update or its purpose, but it’s possible that the company will do so in the coming days.

As per the observation, the update seems to provide a boost to network connectivity on LTE. In simple words, the update may aim to enhance network connectivity by stabilizing the speed of the internet while connecting to the 4G network.

According to the changelog, it is worth noting that Galaxy users who purchase their smartphone in Germany will not be able to use 4G networks on TDD band connections in other countries, including Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.
