The South Korean tech manufacturer Samsung has a wide lineup of smartphones, including premium, mid-range, and entry-level devices. Besides smartphones, Samsung manufactures Tablets, Processors, and Displays too. Generally, Samsung uses its own Displays in its Galaxy devices, but as Samsung is reported to use BOE’s Display in its next foldable series, things look different this time. So, let’s take a look at the full report.
Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 devices may feature BOE’s Display in them
Firstly, let us tell you BOE Technology is a Chinese electronic component manufacturer, which manufactures Display as well. As per the ITHome report, BOE is planning to supply foldable Display Panels for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 devices. Not only that, but BOE may supply Displays for next-gen foldable Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 as well.
Informatively, it is not the first time Samsung is pursuing BOE Displays for its Galaxy devices. Previously also, they have used BOE’s Display for some of its Galaxy mid-range phones and Galaxy Watches, but they haven’t been used in high-end devices yet. Hence, with the Z Fold 5/Flip 5 devices, it will be the first time when Samsung has chosen some other manufacturer’s Display for its premium device.
In the manner of Samsung Displays, BOE is said to have taken away some of Samsung’s share for iPhone devices, and there is a possibility for BOE to overtake Samsung’s place and get the order for LTPO iPhone Displays next year. However, neither Samsung nor BOE has yet agreed to the Korean firm’s high-end Display needs, but if it happens, it will lead Samsung to fewer Display arm sales.
