Carrier-unlocked Galaxy S21 users receiving March 2023 security update in the US
The Galaxy S21 was launched back in 2021, and the device came with Android 11 out of the box; later, the device received two more Android updates which are covered with Samsung One UI. Currently, it is running on One UI 5.1, which is based on Android 13. Now the device is receiving a new update as March 2023 security update.
The latest update doesn’t bring any new features, but it brings several improvements which enhance the overall performance and security of the device; it is the general part of security maintenance of the device which Google provides to strengthen the overall security of devices.
Moreover, Samsung also added some extra patches with the new update that fixed several vulnerabilities of Galaxy devices; this time company introduced 23 patches for the resolutions of different issues which are reported earlier.
Samsung has addressed some security loopholes and variabilities in several functions and apps such as System UI, Bluetooth, Galaxy Themes Service, Samsung Keyboard, Call application, etc. Samsung claims that all the mentioned apps and functions are now fixed and safe to use, and the company also promises that if there is any bug left apart from this, it will surely fix it in another update.
The March 2023 security update is now rolling out for Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra on all unlocked major carriers, users who own these devices can identify the latest update by these software version numbers G991U1UES5EWB5, G996U1UES5EWB5, and G998U1UES5EWB5 respectively. While the Carrier locked variant of the devices has already received the same update on several networks, including Verizon and T-Mobile.
