WhatsApp now allow you to edit sent messages
WhatsApp has made a grand announcement about a new feature that closely resembles the functionality of Telegram. Now, users can click on a message they wish to modify and select the “Edit” option from the ensuing menu. This allows them to change the content of a message in case of regrets or errors.
Naturally, there are limitations to editing messages. The app grants users a 15-minute window to edit any message they have sent. Once this time elapses, modifications are no longer possible. Similar to Telegram, when the content of a message is altered, the recipient will receive a notification. However, the sender will not be able to view the specific changes made.

WhatsApp has confirmed that the implementation of this feature is underway globally. It is expected to become available to all users in the coming weeks. If the feature does not immediately appear after updating WhatsApp, users are advised to exercise a bit of patience.
Edited messages will display ‘edited’ alongside them, so those you’re messaging are aware of the correction without showing edit history. As with all personal messages, media and calls, your messages and the edits you make are protected by end-to-end encryption.
As mentioned earlier, it is worth noting that this feature has arrived several years late, but its arrival is still welcomed. Many users find it difficult to fathom why WhatsApp took such a long time to introduce such a fundamental capability. This delay, in the eyes of some, underscores the significant shortcomings that the messaging giant faces when compared to its competitors.
