Samsung’s first Galaxy Fold gets new update in the US

Samsung has started introducing its foldable devices with the Galaxy Fold device. It was launched back in 2019. It was packed with Android 9.0 (Pie), which was the latest Android version of that time. Later, the company released more new Android versions gradually, and with the last Android 12 update, it is no longer eligible for major updates. But still, it is eligible for the new security updates.
Currently, Galaxy Fold is receiving the May 2023 security patch update in the US. Notably, the update is available for the unlocked variant of the device on several networks, including Comcast, US Cellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile’s networks. It is expected that the update will be available on all other networks in the coming days.
The First Galaxy Fold device is getting the new firmware update with version F900U1UEU6HWE5. As we said, the latest update brings May 2023 security patch; it includes 70+ security vulnerability fixes which improves the overall security of the device.
Samsung Fold is now a four-year-old device; Samsung has downgraded it to the Quarterly security update list, which means the device is only eligible for four security updates per year. This year the device received one more update in February, so now there are still two updates left for the device, which can be dropped by Samsung any month.
If you are a Galaxy Fold (unlocked), you should receive the notification regarding the update, but in case you didn’t receive the update yet, then you can also check it manually by going to the software update menu through system settings.
