The latest update comes with June 2023 security patch; however, it is not only limited to it but also brings some new functionalities and fixes for the camera. The new firmware update brings the 2X zoom for portrait mode, smoother One UI transition animations, fixes camera autofocus issues, and improves the haptic feedback. Digging deeper, you can also notice a further change: the manufacturer seems to have removed the ability to disable the emergency SOS function, which allows you to start a call to your chosen emergency number by quickly pressing the power button five times. Of course, the other options remain, which allow you to activate a countdown, play a sound and share the location with emergency contacts. The change could be part of the June news, and therefore it is possible that it has been integrated into the other Samsung models as well.
It is worth noticing the new update for the Canadian units of the Galaxy S23 series is coming with a new firmware version as AWF3, while for the other countries, it was coming with AWF1. It indicates that it may be a more improved version of the new update. The download required by the new update is about 2.2 GB, so it is implied that the news does not stop there.
