Samsung Wallet launches a service for students

Student IDs play a vital role in college life, and it is necessary to always have their student ID with them for attendance purposes, etc. Samsung has now announced a feature that will allow students to add IDs to their phones’ digital wallets in the United States. With its Samsung Wallet, which was launched earlier this year, the firm combines the mobile payment experiences of Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass. The firm extends its hands-over adoption of digital IDs, such as NFC dorm room locks and classroom check-ins, by adding support for student IDs from a few US institutions to Samsung Wallet.

Through a collaboration with Transact Campus, mobile-centric platforms across several schools, support for student IDs has been expanded. Now students can use their phones in the place of their ID card to open their dorm room and other facilities by saving their ID in Samsung Wallet. Additionally, they can also make contactless purchases if their phone and campus support NFC(Near Field Communications) with their IDs through phones.

Institutions such as Penn State, the University of Florida, Central Michigan University, the University of North Alabama, and the Stevens Institute of Technology will support student IDs on Samsung Wallet. Samsung America also launched the initiative at 68 colleges and educational institutions across the country, and the firm is actively working to expand to more institutions. However, it is obvious that the student should be a Samsung user.

Further, the software uses a function called fast mode which enables users to submit their NFC ID without having to unlock their handset and activate the power reserve to use their gadget after the battery gets down.

Jude Buckley, executive vice president of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics America, opened up,”We’re always looking to innovate and improve the Galaxy experience for every kind of user. Technology plays a big part in today’s college experience, and with student ID for Samsung Wallet, we created a way for students to use the technology they already have on hand to simplify their busy lives.”
