Samsung Canada Celebrates Annual Day of Giving with National Shoreline Cleanups

Spread the love

Samsung Canada celebrated its annual ‘Day of Giving’ on October 11 as its employees came together throughout the nation to help their local communities. In order to organize beach cleanups in the regions where Samsung operates nationwide, Samsung once again worked with Ocean Wise, an international conservation organization with the goal of preserving and restoring the world’s seas. Numerous Samsung workers spent the entire day scrubbing local rivers and public places of pollutants and trash.

The combined effort of the Samsung team members resulted in the cleanup of 9.5km of shoreline and 331 kg (730 pounds) of trash from shorelines across Canada. A commitment to zero waste in landfills and a decrease in e-waste by 2025 is part of Samsung’s ongoing global efforts to realize its everyday sustainability goals, and as a part of this, Samsung follows their key aspects to attain their goal.

Creating new things by recycling waste materials:

With the potential to disturb the environment, the firm has created cutting-edge technologies to recycle fishing nets and other unwanted things like water bottles and CD cases. From the Galaxy S22 Ultra onwards, these materials have been used in a variety of devices, such as the Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, Buds 2 Pro, Tab S9 Ultra, SolarCell remote, and Bespoke Jet AI.

Cut back on laundry-related microplastic emissions.

With Samsung Washing Machine’s Less Microfiber Cycle, which successfully cuts microplastic shedding by 54%, and the Less Microfiber Filter, which collects around 89–98% of microplastics emitted during washing, you may decrease microplastic emissions from your laundry.

Creation rather than elimination:

With the help of e-waste recycling, our approach gives outdated materials a second chance at becoming useful resources.

Home gadgets made from an old Samsung Galaxy:

Reduce e-waste and resource consumption by converting your old Samsung Galaxy into a smart home device.

Jihoon Lee, President and CEO, Samsung Canada, commented,We are proud to have once again worked with Ocean Wise. I want to give a special thank you to the hundreds of Samsung team members who volunteered their time to give back to our communities.
