Galaxy S24 Could Display HDR Images Faithfully with Ultra HDR Support
This year, during its I/O event, Google unveiled Ultra HDR for Android 14, a feature that lets you capture HDR images and movies and properly show them on HDR displays. It isn’t going to be in One UI 6 stable release when it comes, but there are rumors that Samsung is planning to include it in the Galaxy S24 series. Rumours have it that Super AMOLED panels will be available on all three models of the Galaxy S24 lineup. Additional rumors state that the brightness of those screens may reach up to 2,500 nits. The brightness, contrast, and color gamut that come with HDR images and films would thus be well shown on them.
The whole Galaxy S24 series will get Ultra HDR from Samsung, as per tipster Ice Universe, in order to capitalize on the anticipated brightness improvement. On the majority of Android phones, HDR images and videos are mapped to standard dynamic range (SDR) and then stored. Verizon has rolled out the March 2024 security patch update for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 devices. Earlier, these devices had received the same update outside the US, but now they are gradually expanding to the US.
