Samsung has rolled out the new security patch for its Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 series devices, but due to carrier restrictions, the company hasn’t been able to distribute the update at the same time in the US. But now, gradually, depending on the carriers, these watches have started getting new updates.
As per the information, Verizon has rolled out the December 2023 security update for the LTE variants of the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series. With the latest update, the company hasn’t provided any new proper changelog; all it says is that it will provide improvements to the watches. Along with this, after installing the update, you will see the short names of applications that are named after Samsung.
Users who own Galaxy Watch 4 40mm and 44mm variants can identify the latest update by the firmware version numbers R865USQU1HWL1 and R875USQU1HWL1, respectively. The Classic model with 42mm and 46mm is getting the same update with the firmware version numbers R885USQU1HWL1 and R895USQU1HWL1, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Watch 5’s modal 40mm and 44mm are getting the update with the firmware version numbers R905USQU1BWL1 and R915USQU1BWL1, respectively. The Pro version is receiving the update with the firmware version number R925USQU1BWL1.
If you are using the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series watches affiliated with Verizon, then now you can easily update to the latest version. To check the latest update on your smartwatch, you have to simply visit the Galaxy Wearable and go to the software update section. If the update is available, it will start downloading.
