Carrier-unlocked Galaxy S21 series gets December 2023 patch in the USA

The Samsung Galaxy S21 series was released back in 2021; it came with Android 11. Later,  it received two major updates in the form of Android 12 and Android 13 sequentially. Now,  users in the US are waiting for the One UI 6.0, which is based on Android 14, but they have to wait for some more time as it has started receiving the December 2023 update prior.

Earlier, these devices had already received the December 2023 update from different carriers, including Verizon. Now the update has started expanding to the unlocked variant of Galaxy S21 devices.

Users who own the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra can identify the latest update by the firmware version numbers G991U1UEU9EWL2, G996U1UEU9EWL2, and G998U1UEU9EWL2, respectively. Don’t get too excited, as the latest update brings new security fixes for the devices, which don’t include any new features or innovations for the devices.

According to the official documentation, the latest update for the devices is coming with more than 60 fixes that will enhance the overall performance of the devices. In details, 50 fixes are included by Google, which address the issues found in the Android OS, while the other 16 issues are added by Samsung, which improve the internal functions of Galaxy devices.

In simple words, the latest security patch will provide general improvements for the device’s internal functions so it can easily fight against external threats that can be harmful to your devices. If you want to stay protected, then it is a good idea to keep the device up-to-date.
